Working for a design company
Today was my first day at a new job. I was lucky and find it quite fast but I have testing period. That’s okay because I really have lack of experience. My task will be to make HTML/CSS works and all related stuff. After first day I begin to understand that working for a big company is not so good idea.
Probably all my thoughts will different after a while but I have a lot of doubts about that. First of all, what big company could give us?
- Learning. In any way, at the beginning you’ll learn some new things. Even if you are a pro, that doesn’t guaranty that you know CMS which is in use at the company.
- Experience. That is one of the most important things in my opinion. At least that is for me. The experience is a very complex conception and consists of a lot of things.
- Money. That is very arguable point. Big company = stable money. That is good from one side but stable doesn’t mean a lot of.
- Connections. How far could anybody grow without contact to other people?
I haven’t work for myself yet but here are my thoughts about positive things about that:
- Money depends on you. Quality and duration of your work are really important.
- Permanent growth. That is logical conclusion for the first point.
- Work hours depend on you. You could work in any time you like. You also could choose duration of work hours.
- Nobody can point you what to do. You haven’t any chiefs besides yourself. Of course there are clients who always would say you what they want but that is different thing.
What are you think about that? Could you add some more points in both kinds of work?
P.s. I’ll write about negative sides of both kinds of work next time.
